On Sunday, March 16, the Pridgeon Center in Franklin was proud to host the second annual Triple Threat Hair Show. Latonya Darnel of the Style Studio in Hearne has been competing, and winning, at hair shows all over the US and last year she decided to bring the action to her neck of the woods. She had the first Triple Threat in Bryan and it was a great success, but Darnell wanted her own county to be represented in the hair world, so with a little help from some local sponsors, the Franklin Chamber of Commerce and her good friends and co-workers, she brought the hair show home to Robertson County.
The event was attended by hundreds of stylists, vying to compete for the top spot in the show. Each team chose a theme and styled their models to fit the theme. Each team chose hairstyles that ran the gamut from traditional chic to out-there fantasy. This year the spoils went to a team from Waco, Tx of the "Spoil 'Em Rotten" hair salon run by Toni Archer. Their theme was, "The Cat in the Hat"; and they showcased five models with hairstyles that were fun and eclectic. Hair shows aren't just for the fun, they are a place where stylists and barbers can learn from each other as well.
Educators and stylists from all over Texas came to the Pridgeon Center to educate on everything from weaving techniques and coloring to healthy hair tips and tricks. There were vendors at the show as well selling hair supplies, jewelry and accessories and fun fashion for those in attendance.
Darnell is proud of the hard work and dedication her staff and crew put in to making the event such a success. She is excited to bring the event back home to Robertson County and she plans on keeping it here in the future. Darnell would like to thank the local sponsors who helped make the event happen; Derek Scott’s Auto Park, Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, Hearne Healthcare, Penick Tire and Auto, Pizza Hut and LeAnthony Dykes Bail Bonds.
