BVCASA offers Baby Luv program to assist new moms
The Brazos Valley Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse in Bryan wants Robertson County residents to know about its free “Baby Luv” program. “Baby Luv” is designed to provide case management, parenting resources and activities to pregnant and postpartum women and adolescents. BVCASA hopes to increase services across the Brazos Valley.
Cindy Soltis is the program’s coordinator and says that any woman who is pregnant or has a baby 18 months or younger qualifies. “Each session provides free diapers, and we also provide incentives like high chairs, strollers, cribs, walkers, things every new mother needs,” said Soltis. “The goal of the program is to help deliver healthy babies and arm new mothers with the skills they need to raise happy, strong children.”
The program is individualized for each woman’s needs and includes nine parenting sessions covering topics such as infant massage, nutrition on a budget, and how to deal with stress. Program participants also create memorabilia like baby books and baby treasure boxes.
Programs will be starting soon across Robertson County with sites being secured in Hearne, Calvert and Franklin. If you or someone you know is interested in taking advantage of this free service, call BVCASA at 979-846-3560.
