Calvert Woman’s Club goes on a Round Top adventure
Members of the Calvert Woman’s Club enjoyed “A Round Top Adventure”, Thursday, April 4. Ella Lee Hart, Jeanne Williams, Vonnie Burnitt, Alice Griffin, Donna McBee, Mary Foyle Alston, and guest Lynda Fleming met at Katy Hamman Stricker Library and Heritage Center at 9:45a.m. to caravan to their destination. Each first weekend in April and October, the areas of Round Top, Carmine, and Warrenton are converged upon with countless vendors, dealers, and sellers of all kind. They come from all over the country and erect tents, booths, and occupy buildings to display their wares. One and all are invited to look over their offerings; from antiques to collectibles, to just about any item you might imagine—new or old, furniture to textiles to western items, shoes, clothing, etc. So much you might not see it all in a day, or weekend. Buyers and lookers come from all over the country as well. The women enjoyed shopping, visiting, and eating at “J.W.’s”, a casual restaurant where they were joined by member Cyndi Bird and her husband, Don Howell. “J.W.’s” is known for its’ excellent food and specialty pies. Members continued shopping and browsing and traveling the scenic areas of the vicinity, that afternoon, before returning to Calvert.
