Creative Solutions in Health Care plans to build an eighty-bed, state-of-the-art nursing home in Hearne on seventeen acres at the intersection of Hackberry Street and Rose Marie Boulevard that the company recently purchased from the City of Hearne.  A tentative golden shovel ground-breaking is planned for Tuesday, July 16.
“We are excited about opening a facility that will serve Hearne and surrounding communities,” commented Gary Blake, Creative Solutions’ founder and owner.  “I am especially excited about building this facility in Hearne since my aunt and uncle, Charlie and Naomi Blake, were very active members of Hearne’s business community years ago.  This facility continues a family tradition of involvement in this area.”
Blake’s Fort Worth-based company owns and operates fifty-one skilled nursing homes and nine assisted living facilities that are now caring for almost 3,500 residents throughout Texas. Adding about seven new properties a year, Creative Solutions operates nearby homes in Fairfield, Teague, and Franklin.  The company’s properties are mostly in small towns and rural areas, and each market is operated as an individual corporate unit. The new Hearne location is very convenient to people in southern Robertson County, northern Brazos County, eastern Milam County, and eastern Burleson County.
This new facility is being built by The Antlers Corporation, a San Antonio-based developer and general contractor.  According to Michael W. Smith, President and C.E.O., “There will be eighty private room suites with shared baths between every two rooms.  This facility will have an outpatient care wing as well as lots of other features and amenities. There is sufficient acreage for expansion, possibly for future assisted-living units.”
“Hearne welcomes Creative Solutions,” says Mayor Ruben Gomez.  “The building of this new nursing home along with the recent addition of the St. Joseph Express urgent care along with the DaVita Kidney Dialysis Center demonstrates that Hearne is increasingly responding to the diverse health care needs of several counties.”
The City of Hearne will be applying for a $750,000 Texas Department of Agriculture Texas Capital Fund grant to address drainage issues, place curbs, gutters, and sidewalks around the facility, resurface Hackberry Street and Rose Marie Boulevard from TX6 and US79. A similar grant recently funded an increase in the size of the water main from the city’s yard, under the railroad tracks, along Fulton to Eighth Street.
Hearne officials are working with Blinn College to try to offer Certified Nursing Aide, Certified Medications Aide, Phlebotomy, medical records, and other health care-related classes to local residents.  Darnell Threadgill, a local realtor with White & Associates, worked closely with Hearne Economic Development and the City of Hearne to find Antlers and Creative Solutions the perfect spot in a residential neighborhood for this new facility that will serve people in local communities for years to come.
