Melion Luther Foster was born July 11, 1937,in Hearne, Texas the second of two children born to Judicious and Maggie foster, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother Odell (Sonny) Foster and his stepsister Phoebe Sapp. From an early age Melion was provided with a strong spiritual foundation.
Melion graduated from Blackshear High School in 1955, where he was an all around athlete who ran track, played football, and basketball. He served in the United State Navy. He enjoyed reading and researching history. He became a deacon in 2008 at True Light Missionary Baptist Church.
Melion leaves to mourn his wife of over 50 years Dorothy; children, Gloria Sims (George) of Houston, Marc Redmon of Hearne, and Kelvin Foster (Michelle) of Pearland; two sisters, Fannie Elam (John) of Hearne and Margaret Louise Christon of College Station; one brother, Kenneth Wayne Turner (Staci) of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He also leaves to cherish his memories, eight grandchildren, Teagan Simmons, Gary Robertson (Delonica), Terry Collins, Dominique Foster, Dillion Foster, Kaila Delfance, and Dawn Foster; four godchildren, Paula Harris, Stephanie Slaughter, Kendell Slaughter, and Nina Manning; a host of extended family and friends.
Home going celebration of Life honoring Melion was held at 10am Monday, July 22, 2013 at True Light Missionary Baptist Church 4017 Hamilton street Houston, Texas 77004. Rev. Crag S. Taylor, pastor, and officiante.
Visitation was held from 3-6pm Saturday July 20, 2013 and 1-7pm Sunday July 21, 2013 at Glen Mack Funeral Home.
