Edwin Sturgis Cook, 64, passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, after a brief illness.
Service: 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel.
Edwin Sturgis was born February 27, 1949, in Franklin, TX, the son of Darlene Cook and the late John Cook.
Edwin was the assistant director in Fort Worth’s department of finance administration for 30 years. He retired from the city in April 2001. He also served on the board at the Fort Worth City Credit Union as secretary-treasurer for 18 years.
Edwin was an active member of many professional organizations including NAACP/ACTSO and COMPA. Edwin’s latest passion was antique cars, preferably the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. He was serving as the current president of the “Real Steel Rodders of Texas.”
Survivors: Loving wife of 42 years, Dorothy Cook; their children, Tanya Braxton (Alton II), of Arlington; Edwin Cook Jr. (Ashley) of Mesquite and Kevin Cook of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Alton Braxton III, Alan Braxton, Mariah Cook and Mia Cook; mother, Darlene Cook of Franklin; uncle, Robert Lurrell Edwards of Franklin; seven loving brothers; and nine loving sisters.
