Ranked and roaring

The Franklin Lady Lions took control of District play this week as they moved to 4-0.     Wins over Anderson-Shiro and Hempstead began their ascent to the top spot.
They backed those two wins up with victories over Centerville and Hempstead.  The Lady Lions come in as the county’s only ranked team in class 2A.  Led by seniors Ambrey Deleon, Krista Stickney, Maddie Nelson, Kadie McCllough, and Carrie Casey Franklin stands at 20-5 on the season. Coach Jessica Turner’s squad has responded as she expected they would once District play rolled around.
They swept Centerville on Tuesday, winning all 3 games handily.  Nelson and Stickney continued to make great sets for assists while Deleon and Casey looked to kill every shot in sight.  Their continued improvement is one of Coach Turner’s goals because she’d like to go further than just being District Champions.
That is only the first step in her plan, with the ultimate goal being a State Title. Having already earned wins against Centerville and Anderson-Shiro, the Ladies definitely have put their claim on who the favorite is. It’s no brainer, it’s Coach Turner and the Lady Lions.
