Born in Bryan, Texas to Vince and Mary Stella Campise, Marie graduated from Hearne High School in 1960. She married the love of her life, James H. Jones, on July 9, 1961. Marie devoted her life to caring for her family. She was an excellent cook and loved to gather the entire family together for huge meals. She attended many music and sports functions for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was always active in her church. In the early years, she taught catechism. Later, she served by cooking meals for priests, preparing food for funerals, acting as a cantor and joining the Age Managers Club. She was a devoted caregiver for her husband James when he was ill and was a dear friend to many.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents and husband, James H. Jones. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa & Rick Rawls, Michelle & Scott Mathews, Gina & Karl King and Jami & David Browning, grandchildren, Lindsay & Josh White, David King, Kimberly & Derrick Nethery, Austin Mathews, Katie Rawls, Jennifer King, Amy Rawls, Parker Mathews, Allie Browning, & Garrett Browning and four great-grandchildren, Abby, Emily, Lucy White and Molly Nethery; Sister and brother-in-law Ginger & Arnie Alexander and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Friday, November 22, 2013 from 4pm-7pm, at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne, Texas with a Rosary beginning at 7pm. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bryan, Texas with Rev. Msgr. John A. McCaffrey officiating and burial at Heard’s Prairie Cemetery in Petteway, Texas. Pallbearers are sons-in-law, grandsons, and grandsons-in-law.
