Shaking off the rust
The Bremond Tigers are getting to basketball after their heart breaking loss to Tenaha. The Tigers had a great football season that ended two weeks too soon for most in Tigerland. and will now look to transition that same effort onto the hardwood court. As soon as the All-District football players names are released, the News will recognize those young men for the accomplishments they have achieved on the gridiron.
This week the Tigers will host the Bremond Classic on December 12-14. The teams involved in the tournament on the Boys side will be Calvert, Navasota JV, Iola, Normangee, Brazos Christian, Bartlett, Riesel and host Bremond. They will open against Riesel on Thursday. The Tigers showing the lack of practice time, as they just entered the gym this week, after football ended last Friday, lost 3 times but improved each game.
The roster of Evan Sargent, Hunter Stuard, Roshauud Paul, RayAndre Browning, DeAndre Hampton, James Jones, Dawiegig Scaggs, J.R. Rocha and Dye Jackson all seem to be settling into playing the game together. Post player Hunter Stuard looked impressive inside rebounding and scoring, and Paul, Browning, Jones, and Scaggs all showed promise at the guard spots. Though they are off to a slow start, given time, the team should come together. Coach Robbie Kasowski has the Tigers playing hard and like Calvert and Franklin they too will get better in time.
The Tigers will open District play this week against Wortham on Friday.
