Dorsey Gardner, 96, of College Station, passed away Sunday January 19, 2014. Visitation was held from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, January 24, at Glenn Mack Funeral Home in Hearne. A celebration of his life was set for 2 p.m. Saturday, January 25, at New Elam Missionary Baptist Church. Interment with full military honors was at Greater Riverside Cemetery in Hearne.
Dorsey was born September 18, 1917 in Hearne, Texas to Jessie Gardner and Willie Ann Wright. He graduated from Blackshear High School in Hearne before serving his country in WWII for six years.
His parents; his wife of more than 60 years; three sisters and one brother all preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving niece, Martha Wade of Hearne; his sister, Annie Pearl Mitchell of College Station; nieces, Jewell Mathews & Ulyesse of Big Spring, Della Chatman of Lawton, Okla.; and nephews, Melvin Staten of Jennings, La., Marvin & Ruby Staten of Houston, Louise Lindley & wife of Houston; and numerous other family and close friends.
His arrangements and care have been entrusted to Glenn Mack Funeral Home of Hearne.
