Joe Hewitt McNair, 85, passed away at his son’s residence on Monday, January 27. Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne. Funeral service followed at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29. Interment followed funeral service in Norwood Cemetery in Hearne. Services were officiated by Robert Martinez. Pallbearers were Joe Bradley McNair, John McNair, Maugro Gomez, Kevin Watkins, Aaron Elliott, and Dwayne Bouis. Honorary pallbearers were Ethan Elliott and Rowdy Watkins.
Joe was born to John Ray McNair and Marie Hewitt McNair in Wheelock, Texas. Joe worked twenty-three years for GATX and twenty-two years for General Tire.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Jack McNair; son, Karl “Rocky” McNair.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Abate McNair of Franklin; step-brother, Jerry McNair, of Allen, Texas; his sons, Joe McNair and wife Becky of Bryan, Ricky McNair and wife Mary of Franklin, and Glenn “Randy” McNair of Temple; step-daughter Deborah Elliott of Bryan; step-son Dwayne Bouis of Bryan; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were entrusted to Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home in Hearne.
