Gadbois competes in swimming
Weston Gadbois, a junior at Bremond High School, recently competed in the 2014 Region V 4A Swimming and Diving Championship on February 7-8 in Magnolia, Texas representing Bremond High School, as the team of one.
After competing in the District 18 Championship in Georgetown, Gadbois came into the regional meet seeded seventeenth in the region for the 200 yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:18.12 and thirteenth in the region for the 100 yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:07.03.
In the prelims on Friday, Gadbois placed fifteenth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.89 and ninth in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:04.33 just missing the “A” final by four-tenths of a second. Swimmers with the top eight times compete in the “A” final for places 1-8 and swimmers with the next eight fastest times compete in the “B” final for places 9-16.
In the finals on Saturday, Gadbois swam a personal best time in each event. He finished the meet fifteenth in the 200 IM with a 2:13.43 and tenth in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:03.94. Region V 4A is a competitive region with three swimmers advancing to the state finals in the 100 Breaststroke. The first place swimmer for each event from each of the eight regions is an automatic qualifier for the state meet. The next eight swimmers to advance to state in each event are pulled from the fastest times in the state across all eight regions in places 2-8.
