Contestants, models, vendors and friends came from all across this half of Texas—from the D/FW Metroplex to Houston and San Antonio, from East Texas to Killeen--to compete for bragging rights and a cool $1,000 (first prize) in LaTonya Darnell’s Texas Triple Threat Hair Show last Sunday, March 30.

Four contestants with about 10 models apiece descended on Franklin’s Pridgeon Center to provide the main thrust of a multi-faceted event. Also included in the 12 noon to 9:30 pm extravaganza were barber and hair-styling training; a vendors’ market with hair products, purses, and other accessories; food and fun.

After an afternoon and evening of intense competition, Toni Archer of Waco took the 1st place trophy and the big money. In second place was Adrian Thomas-Harvey of Hearne followed by Jackie Daniels of Duncanville, each receiving trophies.

One additional plus, said Darnell, was participants’ comment about the trip to Franklin. Many of these city-dwellers loved getting out into the country with the wild flowers in bloom.

Darnell wishes to thank all those who helped her put on the 3rd annual Triple Threat. Thanks also to the judges who came from Austin and Houston and thanks to Franklin and the Pridgeon Center for their support. She added that it gave her great pleasure to bring some positive attention to Robertson County.
