Tigers take district track
The Bremond Tigers roared loudest at the District Track Meet, coming away with a 12-point win and the Championship. The Tigers used a 2nd place finish in all three relay events and 1st place victories by Joe Williams in the 100 meters in 11.03 and RayAndre Browning in the 800 meters, who ran 2:08.49 to clam the win. In addition to those two winners on the track, the Tigers picked up key points from Evan Sergent’s 2nd place in the 110 hurdles and from James Jones’ 3rd place and Josh Anderson’s 6th place finish in the 200 meters. Dawagiek Scaggs finished 4th in the 400 meters and Hunter Stuard came in 4th and Evan Sargent 6th in the 300 hurdles.
In the field events Draven Dennison won the shot put with a toss of 41 feet 3 inches and Colby Wilganowski was 2nd with a throw of 40 feet 3.5 inches. Evan Sargent finished 2nd, Browning 3rd and Stuard 5th in the high jump. In the triple jump Browning was 2nd, Wilganowski 5th, and Roshauud Paul 6th. Overall it was a great showing for the Tigers who had been limited much of the track season due to injuries. The Tigers will carry a nice group to the Area with hopes of coming away with an Area Championship. With a strong contingent in both the running and field events the Tigers are indeed a threat to win on Friday.
The Tiger Baseball team dropped an 8-2 decision to Leon to put a damper on their bid for a playoff spot. Bremond is still in the running for a berth despite the loss. With home games this week against Iola and Normangee the Tigers will look to solidify their position in the District.
The Tigers get to host the Area Track Meet on Friday the 18th with the field events beginning at 9:00 am and the running preliminaries at 10:00 am.
