Franklin ISD capped off a remarkably successful athletic year with its annual Sports Banquet Monday night, May 12. After dinner was served at 6 p.m. in the main meeting room of Franklin’s Pridgeon Community Center, the Franklin Athletic Department honored several of its finest.

Heading the list of honorees was Outstand Female Athlete Carrie Casey and Outstanding Male Athlete Ian Knight.

The Volleyball Heart Award went to Kadie McCullough while Kyla Walker and Maddie Nelson took softball Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards; Maddie also took the Basketball Game Changer award along with teammate Kadie McCullough.

Track Athlete of Year went to Jaley Watkins, Cross County Athlete of the Year is Megan Davis, and Jacob Dorsett received the Lion Rycore award and Honorable Mention All-District.

Franklin basketball standout Michael Witherspoon took home a bucket-full of awards including the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, Texas Basketball Magazine, and Brazos Valley All State awards just to mention a few.

Many more awards were handed out to the students of Franklin’s athletic program. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this event a success and a special thank you to all the students for their hard work and dedication, you make your community proud.
