William Earl “Bill” Mitchell

William Earl “Bill” Mitchell, 59, of Hearne, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at Scott & White Hospital in College Station. Services are set for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at New Elam Missionary Baptist Church, 509 Brenken St., in Hearne, 77859, Rev. Derron Robinson, Pastor, with the Rev. Benny Carroll officiating. Bill will be laid to rest in Lone Star Cemetery in Grosebeck, Texas.

Bill was born October 8, 1954 in Groesbeck to Aaron Mitchell Jr. and Johnell Mitchell Jr. and Johnelle Mitchell. He attended school in Grosebeck I.S.D. at a very young age William confessed his faith in Christ. He worked for New Southwest Bakery for nearly 20 years, until his health no longer permitted.

His father, sister, Evelyn Mitchell; and a brother Charles A. Mitchell proceded him in death.

Glenice Neyland Carrington

Glenice Neyland Carrington was born in Seale Round Prairie, Tx on May 18, 1926 to LL and Liddie Neyland. She left her soul mate and joined her Heavenly Father on April 19, 2014. Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 22nd from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. , followed by a funeral service on Wednesday, April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. , both at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne.

Thad M. McGar

Thad Martin McGar died peacefully at his home in New York City on December 30, 2013 at the age of 86.

He was born in 1927 in Houston, Texas to Mike Martin and Nettie Odessa (nee Hare) McGar and grew up in East Texas, England and Venezuela.  He served in the U. S. Army just after World War II and earned a BFA at the University of Texas in Austin on the GI Bill. 

He came to New York City in 1952 and trained in the then new technique of color transparency retouching under Estelle Friedman.  He became one of the top retouchers in the city and worked on the images of some of the most famous models of the ‘50’ s through ‘80’s. In the 1960’s, he introduced transparency-retouching technology first to London and then to Hamburg, Germany, creating Creative Colour companies in both cities with his associates from Creative Color in New York.  In the early 1970’s, he opened Welbeck Studio in New York with partner Shelly Clayman.  He retired in 1989.

David Lynn Roberson

David Lynn Roberson, 63, passed away at his home in Calvert on Friday, April 11, 2014. David was born August 26, 1950 in Lubbock, Texas to Harold Edward Roberson and Opal Weese Roberson. He served in the U. S. Navy on the Navy ship, the U. S. Ranger. In his civilian life, he was a machinist working for Cameron Iron Works. David had been a Calvert resident since 2000.

Thomas Gregory Krebs, of Prospect, Kentucky and Hoover, Alabama, 86, died on March 16, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Dominic Krebs and Phylys Sophia Bonn Krebs; his beloved son Thomas Gregory Krebs, Jr.; two brothers John Edward Krebs and Edward Dominic Krebs, Jr.; two sisters Phylys Kathryn Krebs Gerhard and Norma Jean Krebs Yann; and his great-niece Anna Grace Donaldson.

Lynn Carol Ellen

Lynn Carol Ellen, 77, passed away Wednesday April 9 at College Station Medical Center.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 12 at Rest-Ever Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Lynn was born May 2, 1936 in Nevada County, Arkansas the daughter of Carl and Opal (Grisham) Russell. Family always came first. Lynn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Lynn is preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Gerald Nafe.

Jessie Lee Davis Martine

Jessie Lee Davis Martine, 90, of Bryan, formerly of Hearne, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility. Visitation was held Monday, April 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 8, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Hearne. Burial followed at Elliott Cemetery near Hearne. Serviceswere officiated by Reverend Larry Blackmon. Pallbearers were Kyle Jager,Ryan Jager, Mark Anthony Murphy, Jeff Brown, Michael Schlieker, and Keith Schlieker.

Juana Lopez Sosa

Juana Lopez Sosa, 91, of Calvert, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Juana was born in Wilder, Texas May 16, 1922 to Tomas Lopez and Rosa Garcia Lopez. She was a homemaker. 

A visitation was held Wednesday, March 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary immediately following, both at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held Thursday, March 27, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial followed at St. Jose Cemetery in Hearne. Services were officiated by Father David Liebham. Pallbearers were Tony Sosa Jr., Paul Sosa, Henry Luna III, Fernando Sosa, Hilario Sosa III, and Steven Luna. Honorary Pallbearers were Ricky Contreras and Albert Vela.

Mrs. Sosa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hilario Sosa Sr.; a son, Tony Sosa Sr.; daughters, Dominga Mirmontez and Eulalia Heison; brothers, Alvino, Juaquin, Nasario; and a sister, Maria.

Elmo Wetzel

Elmo was born November 16 1944. He passed away on March 29,2014. At home surrounded by his family. Elmo was a hard worker up until he got sick. He worked at GATX for thirty-one years. Elmo loved collecting just about everything he could get his hands on. His favorite was Hot wheels. He leaves his mother Julia Whitaker, his wife of thirty two years Janell Bates Wetzler, two sons by his first wife. Michael Wetzler and Jana of Hearne and James Wetzler and wife Jennifer of Wheelock. Two sons that he loved like his own John Sullivan and wife Kim of SantaFe Texas, Jerald Sullivan and wife Ginger also of SantaFe Texas. One daughter Jani Moon and Husband Phillip of Hearne. One adopted son Donald Bates of Hearne.
Nineteen grandchildren Latisha, Michael, Nichole, Michael Jr., Savannah, Alisa, Chavon, Johnny, Kerisa, Elizabeth, Dawn, Kody, Daisy, Nellie, Holly, Willie, Lexi, Bennie, and Abbie and 9 great grandchildren.

Sophie Ann Wilganowski Budzisz

Sophie Ann Wilganowski Budzisz, 82, of Bremond, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Hospice Brazos Valley in Bryan. A visitation was held Sunday, March 23, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with rosary that began at 7:00 p.m., both at Bremond Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held Monday, March 24, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond with interment that followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Services were officiated by Father Celso Yu. Pallbearers were Bernie Wilganowski, Kie Wierzbicki Jr., David Wilganowski, Steven Budzisz, Johnny Ray Wilganowski, and Charles Wilganowski. Honorary Pallbearers were John Paul Budzisz, and Richard Budzisz.

Sophie was born in Marlin, Texas, January 7, 1932 to Bill and Catherine Kuzniarek Wilganowski. She began her schooling in the McClanahan community. She graduated from St. Mary’s Parochial School in Bremond, Texas. She married Joe Marion Budzisz on November 22, 1952 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
