Demetria Tubbs, 41 of Calvert, Texas passed away on January 6, 2015. The service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 12:00 noon in the Calvert High School Gymnasium - 310 Hickory Street Calvert, Texas 77837. There will be a viewing from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on behalf of her sons; Christopher, Jamarion, DaBrenton and Raylin to First Star Bank Calvert, Texas.

George Nicholas Orts, Jr.

George Nicholas Orts, Jr., 96,June 29, 1918 - December 19, 2014 of Hearne, passed away Friday, December 19, 2014. A memorial service was held Saturday, December 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home. Speakers were Mike Orts and Ray Goodwin. Bugalist was David Jones from American Legion Post #159. George was preceded in death by his parents, George Orts, Sr. and Louise Zander Orts and his daughter, Georgia Orts Peyton. Survivors include his wife, Donnie Orts of Hearne; his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Ettie Orts of Wheelock; grandchildren, Shelly and Kenneth Speaks; Kim and Charles Becan; and Michael Roll; 8 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Arrangements were entrusted to Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home.

Sandra Mae Guerra

Sandra Mae Guerra, 74, went to her heavenly family Dec. 24, 2014 at her home in West Columbia, Texas, surrounded by family and friends. Sandra was born in Ogallala, Nebraska to Carl Edwin and Emily (Dupree) Holmquist on May 31,
1940. She moved to Sulphur, Louisiana with her family at an early age, and then to Orange, Texas in her teens. She got married April 28, 1957 in Pasadena and they moved to Hearne in 1970 to continue raising their three daughters. There she enjoyed raising cattle, fishing the Brazos River, and running her restaurant in downtown Hearne. After her kids

Willie Mae Mushinski

Willie Mae Mushinski, 95 of Hearne, TX joined our Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday Jan 4, 2015. She was born in Marlin,
TX and lived in her home in Hearne for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Kie Mushinski Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Bobby Jean McDonald, son Kie and wife Donna Mushinski and son Dennis and wife Debi Mushinski, 4 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Willie Mae never let anyone leave her home without a fantastic meal, good conversation and precious memories. Funeral arrangements are with Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne, TX. Viewing is Wednesday the 7 from
5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. with rosary following at Memorial Funeral Home. Mass at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Hearne at 11:00 a.m. Thursday the 8; Interment will be in Bremond Catholic cemetery.

Kenneth Wayne Donaldson

Kenneth Wayne Donaldson, Sr., 44, of Hearne, passed away at his home Friday, January 2, 2015. Kenneth was born in Hearne September 18, 1970 to William Donaldson and Hazel Joyce Gilbert Donaldson. He was a tree trimmer and a  handy man. Services were held Monday, January 5, 2015, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Norwood Cemetery. Officiating services was Pastor Lonny Dewberry. Organist was Dianne Blackmon. Pallbearers were Christopher Donaldson, Jimmy Donaldson, Jr., Jamie McKay, Joey McKay, Billy McKay, Jonathan McKay; Alternate Pallbearer was Preston Camarata Jr. Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother. Kenneth’s survivors include his father, William Donaldson of Hearne; his sons, Kenneth Wayne Donaldson, Jr., and Christopher Lee Donaldson, both of Junction, Texas; and Robert William Donaldson of Franklin; brothers and sisters-in-law, William Glen and Dawn Donaldson;

Gertrude L. Welch

Gertrude was born on July 23, 1923 in Milam County and passed December 25, 2014. She grew up in Gause, TX and married Paul A. Welch on November  7, 1946. The moved to Texas City, TX in 1947. Gertrude returned to Hearne, TX in January of 1980. Her husband Paul A. Welch precedes Gertrude in death as well as her Father: Ruffice Matthews, 
Mother: Bessie Matthews, Sisters: Lola Williams and Clara Ashley, Brothers: Edward Matthews, Ollie Matthews, Russell Matthews, Baily Matthews, Deward Matthews, and J.P. Matthews. Gertrude is survived by her daughter: Paulette Welch Brown, Son-in-law: Niles Brown, Grandson: Billy Paul Brown, daughter-in-law Joy Brown and great grandson Ethan Brown. Gertude also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. She loved to cook, bake and can and was she good at it, everyone always wanted her to bake them something. Gertrude died peacefully in her sleep at Hearne Health
