Roger Abbott

Roger Abbott, 72, of Hearne passed away on October 8, 2013 in Temple, Texas after a long battle with cancer. 
Abbott was born on June 18, 1942 to Tressie and Raymond Abbott and raised in Hearne, Texas.  His parents proceeded him in death. He is survived by his son Kevin Abbott of Temple, daughter and son-in-law Shanna and Randy Goeke of Belton, Texas. Four grandkids Lance and Dustin Goeke and Ashley Ybarra and Tatum Abbott and one great grandchild Noyeli Ybarra. Abbott is also survived by many cousins and friends along with one very special cousin Russel McLerran of Cameron,Texas.

‘Wylie Terry Johnson, 81, of Franklin passed away on October 14, 2013. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 1:00 pm at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin with burial to follow at the Bald Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.

A visitation is set for Wednesday, October 9, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home. Funeral service is set for Thursday, October 10, at 10:00 a.m., burial to follow at Suggs Cemetery.

Sally Perez, 64, of Franklin, Texas, passed away in her home on October 2, 2013. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 11am at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband and daughter. She is survived by her sons, Kevin Bolton, Mike Benites and Mark Perez; daughters, Teresa Benites and Chrisie Perez; numerous grandchildren and beloved family and friends.

Georgia Evelyn McKnight

Georgia Evelyn McKnight, 88, of Hearne, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Fortress Nursing Home in College Station.
She was born to Ira Tinsley and Ina Morgan Tinsley on April 11, 1925 in Mart, Texas. 
A graveside service was held Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Norwood Cemetery in Hearne. Service was officiated by Dale Wells of Elliott Baptist Church.   
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; her  husband, Chester McKnight; a daughter, Ina McKnight.

Maurine Lavesta West

Maurine Lavesta West, 98, of Hearne, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the Franklin Nursing Home.
She was born to Hildred W. Starkey and Donie Bolton Starkey in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 25, 1915. She was a nurse in the Robertson County area for many years.
A memorial service will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois on October 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. No services were held in Hearne.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Carl West; two sons, Carl West, Jr. and Edgar West; brothers, Wilmo Starkey, J. M. Starkey, Wade Starkey; and sisters, Virginia McDonald, Estelle Pack.  
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria West Smith and Thomas J. Smith, Jr. of Boling Brook, Illinois; granddaughters, Alexandria Smith, Vicki English, Carla West, Sandra West; grandson, Bill West; and great-grandchild, Niyelrie Smith.
Arrangements were entrusted to Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home.

William R. Wiese, Jr.

William R. Wiese, Jr., 81, of Granbury, Texas, passed away at Harbor Lakes Nursing and Rehab facility on Thursday, October 3, 2013. He was born in Bremond, Texas on April 9, 1932 to William R. Wiese, Sr. and Johnnie Buice Wiese. He lived numerous places throughout his life and came back to String Prairie Cemetery near Calvert to be laid to rest.
Willie was in the Navy Reserve and was the owner of a motorcycle dealership. He had also been a locksmith. One fellow business owner described him as an icon in the motorcycle business.
A visitation was held at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home Sunday, October 6, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. where friends and family gathered. Funeral service was also held at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home on Monday, October 7, at 1:00 p.m. with burial that followed. The officiante was Mr. Wiese’s son, Richard Wiese. Organist was Dianne Blackmon. Pallbearers were his grandsons.

Samuel Rueda Hidrogo

Samuel Rueda Hidrogo, 86, of Franklin passed away Thursday, September 18,2013 in Franklin.
Samuel was born on September 11, 1927 to Carlos F. and Eugenia (Rueda) Hidrogo in Mission, Texas.
Samuel moved to the Brazos Valley in 1942 and then to Wheelock, Texas in 1943. There he met and married Juana Hernandez and they raised eight children.
Samuel Worked many jobs. He was a hard worker and he always put his family first. He worked until his health started failing him and even then, he kept pushing.
Samuel is proceeded in death by his parents, Carlos and Eugenia Hidrogo; infants, Abel and Margaretia Hidrogo, and in 1968, his wife of 25 years, Juana Hidrogo went home to glory; sister and brother-in-law Angelita and Santos Medina of Bryan, Texas; parents-in-law, Vincente and Suta Hernandez; daughter-in-law Ricki Hidrogo; and daughter Julia Ann Delgardo.

Ruth Stephens Martin 

Ruth Stephens Martin passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the age of 84. Ruth was born on January 27, 1929. She graduated from Hearne High School in 1946, and on April 6, 1947 she married Henry Victor Martin, Jr., who owned Martin Dry Cleaners and Laundry in Hearne. Together, they had three children and lived in Hearne until Victor died in 1960, at which time Ruth moved to Huntsville, Texas. After graduation, with a degree in music education, she moved the family to Houston where she taught school. Ruth—always a hard-working, determined, and dedicated individual—committed herself to family, church, and teaching. Regardless of where she was living, she immersed herself in church activities: bible study courses, choir, playing the organ, or playing the piano. She is survived by her son and his wife, Ira Lee and Beverly Martin; her two daughters and their husbands, Vicki and Dan Hester, and Suzan and Eldon Cunningham.
