Mary Ethyl Burney Ely

March 21, 1917 - January 8, 2014
Mary Ethyl Burney Ely, 96, of Gause, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at
St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.
A visitation was held Friday, January 10, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home in Hearne. Funeral service was Saturday, January 11, at 10:00 a.m. at Gause United Methodist Church in Gause. Burial followed in Gause Cemetery. Services were officiated by Pastor Kenneth Byrd of Gause United Methodist Church. Pallbearers were Keith Ely, Bobby Meline, Jordan Ely, Ryan Kleiber, Preston Loehr, Larry Collie, Nathan Bishop, and Todd Edwards.  
Mary was born in Riesel, Texas on March 21, 1917 to James Monroe Burney and Lela Wright Burney. She lived in the Gause area for 80 years. She was a member of Gause United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker.

Lillian Lucille Ferguson

October 10, 1921 - January 3, 2014
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday January 12, 2014 at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home.
She is survived by her son Edgar Leon Yeley Jr. of Conroe, Texas, her daughters and son-in-law, Peggy Parsons of New Braunfels, Texas, and Mary Rae and Robert Preston of New Braunfels, Texas, 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Lillian is preceded in death by her husband John Thomas Ferguson. Arrangements are entrusted to Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home.

James Darrell Elliott

James Darrell Elliott, 70, of Franklin, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, TX. He was born on July 3, 1943 in Lott, TX to Kirk and Elizabeth McCreary Elliott. He graduated from Hearne High School. James served in the Army in the Panama Canal. He married Gloria Revier on June 5, 1965 in Lott, TX. He was a retired Conductor/Brakeman from Union Pacific Railroad after 25 years. James had lived in the community for 42 years and was of the Full Gospel faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Jason Elliott, and sister: Sherry Cunningham.
He is survived by:
Wife – Gloria Jean Elliott of Franklin
Daughters- Kellie White of Franklin
Hollie Hodges and husband Bo of Marble Falls
Sister- Sue Gordon and husband Steve of Hearne
4 Grandchildren- Michael White and wife Laura, Jennifer White, Brandon Eppers, and Jaysa Kay Elliott
2 Great Grandsons- Elliott White and Landry White

Faye Mullins Padro

Faye Mullins Padro returned to the Lord on January 5, 2014 at the age of 82. She was born in Hearne, Tx on July 19, 1931 and was raised during the Great Depression. After marrying her high school sweetheart, William Roland Pardo, Jr. (who died on 8/30/2008), she lived in Hearne and Fort Worth before moving to Irving in 1964. She is survived by her children, Connie Smart-Baker (Jeff Baker) of Irving; Cynthia (Raymond) Rehberg of Erie, Co: and William R. Pardo III, AKA Bubba, of Irving. Mrs. Pardo is survived and will dearly be missed by grandchildren Becky (Phillip) Davis of Colleyville, Sam (Jennifer) Smart of Allen, and Ben Rehberg of Alfred NY. She is also survived by her sisters Grace Schulze of San Antonio and Edna Vinto of Franklin, along with numerous nieces and nephews and four great-grand children - McKeylee Smart, Abby Davis, Madeline Davis, and Ethan Smart.

Rev. Donald Frank Adams

Rev. Donald Frank Adams “AKA” Donnie was born September 27, 1951 to Frank Adams and the late Mary Glynn Carrington Adams. He was the second child born to this union of four children. He departed this life on December 30, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital.
He joined church at an early age at the Little Flock Baptist Church. He often attended the St. Paul, Progressive and Bethel AME churches.
He met his high school sweetheart in the summer of 1970 and they were married on July 15, 1972. To this union, four children were born.

Lillian Bishop

November 26, 1917 - December 30, 2013
Lillian Bishop of the Elliott Community passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the age of 96. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 1st from 5-7pm with a funeral service being held at 10am Thursday, January 2nd at Elliott Baptist Church.
Lillian was born in Robertson County November 26, 1917 to Fred and Della Yates. She grew up in Robertson County and graduated from Franklin High School. She married Louis “Sam” Bishop in 1939. She spent most of her adult life in Houston where her husband was employed by Exxon.
She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an excellent seamstress. She loved to quilt, crochet as well as fish. She had a green thumb and loved to garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, and sister, Estelle Knight.

Hattie Leonard Foster

Hattie Leonard Foster passed away at her home in the community of Willow Creek to be with her Heavenly Father. She was born on October 11, 1914 in Waco, Texas to Newton Leonard and Paralee Tallant Leonard. She moved to Robertson County at the age of two. She then moved to Houston and eventually to Friendswood, Texas. She returned to Willow Creek in 2007 after 75 years in the Houston area to live with her daughter, Jean Foster Johnson and son-in-law, Wendell Johnson, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Taylor Foster, son; Wendell Nolan Foster and wife, Marlene, sisters; Ollie Leonard Ross and Nellie Leonard Crisp.
She loved gardening, quilting, embroidery and cooking for her family.
She is survived by:

Betty Lee James Stovall

September 8, 1929 – December 21, 2013
Betty Lee Stovall of Hearne passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 21, 2013, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be at 1:00pm Friday, December 27 at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home, services will follow at 2:00 pm, with Gary Roe from Hospice Brazos Valley officiating. Interment will follow at Norwood Cemetery.
Betty was born September 8, 1929 in Chilton, TX to Lonnie F. and Lucille James. She was married for 66 years to her high school sweetheart and love of her life Robert M. “Bob” Stovall and settled in Hearne, TX to raise her family. Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother who put family above all else.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents and grandson James Bradley Stovall.

Martha Jo Dunn

Martha Dunn, 71, of Hearne, passed away at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan Wednesday, December 11, 2013 with family at her side.
Martha was born to Rosa Lee and Ralph Elias Baker just outside Ogelsby, TX, in rural Coryell County. The youngest of 10 children, Martha was a 1960 graduate of Gatesville High School where she was an avid basketball player, a sport she  loved throughout her life. She was a beautician in the Temple area when she met and married her husband of almost 47 years, Thomas Watis Dunn. Mr. Dunn passed way June 30, 2012.  The Dunns lived in Central and East Texas before settling in Hearne, TX for 26 years. Martha enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing and spending time with her family and neighbors.

George Thomas Harris

George Thomas Harris, 78, of Midland, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013. He was born on November 30, 1935, in Eastland, Texas to Charles Bost and Gladys Marjorie (Johnson) Harris. George graduated from Eastland High School in 1954, attended Tarleton State College and finished with a Bachelor’s Degree from University of North Texas. He continued his studies until he received his Master’s Degree in Counseling.
George married Sarah Layn Jennings on April 21, 1962 at the First Baptist Church in Grapevine, Texas. He began his career in education at Alamo Junior High in 1959 and later joined the original staff at Robert E. Lee High School in 1961 as a math and physical science teacher. After receiving his Master’s Degree he became a student counselor. He served 15 years at San Jacinto Junior High and moved on as a senior counselor at Robert E. Lee High School. He spent his entire 35 year career in education with Midland ISD and retired in 1994.
