Dolores Ann Rohde

Dolores Ann Rohde was born on March 7, 1933 to Henry Rohde and Pauline Landis Rohde.  She died September 20, 2015. Dolores was the elder of two children born to Henry and Pauline. Her brother Henry Hamilton Rohde Jr. Was born August 30, 1934. Dolores was preceded in death by her brother Henry Hamilton Rohde Jr. her mother Pauline Landis Rohde  and father Henry Rohde. Dolores is survived by many first, second and third cousins in Houston and surrounding Texas cities. Dolores Ann Rohde was the first grandchild born at Charles and Isabel Landis’ residence in Rockdale Texas. Dolores grew up in Rockdale and was within walking distance to downtown She enjoyed the small town blessings that come from growing up in a community that didn’t have to lock their  doors and the friendly close knit nature  of small towns in Texas. Dolores graduated from Hearne High School in May of 1951. She attended McKinsie-Baldwin Business College in Bryan, Texas in 1951.

Elbert Augusta “Gus” Long

Elbert Augusta “Gus” Long was born August 6, 1940 in Galveston, Texas to Reuben and Bennie Long. After graduating from Blackshear High School in 1958, he attended Prairie View University, Prairie View, Texas where he would meet his bride, Iowa Oliphant. The couple married June 5, 1962 and moved to Houston, Texas. To this union five children were born. Inspired by his father, who helped build the first bridge in Galveston, Texas, Gus attended the School of Technology in Waco, Texas to further his education in construction and carpentry. Gus worked in the construction industry in Houston

Cecil Sanchez

Cecil Sanchez, 79 of Houston, Texas passed away with his family at his side on Thursday, August 20, 2015. Cecil was born on November 29, 1935 to Genovio Sanchez and Catarina Alviso in O’Donnell, Texas Mr. Sanchez is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lucia Salazar Sanchez who was born and raised in Hearne, Texas but resides in Houston, Texas; four daughters; Gina Medrano of Houston, Texas, Belinda Valencia of Houston, Texas. Erlinda Sanchez of Bryan, Texas, and Anita Sanchez of Bryan, Texas; four sons; Tommy Sanchez of Houston, Texas, Jimmy Lopez of Houston, Texas, Rudy Lopez of Houston, Texas, and Jesse Sanchez of Bryan, Texas. Cecil is preceded in death by his daughter, Carmen Sanchez of Bryan, Texas and Grandson Christopher Lopez of Hearne, Texas Cecil served four years in the Army during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart of Honor and served as a member of the AFAM since 1967. The family received visitors for a visitation on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 3:00 p.m.

Herman George Rattler, 78, born January 30, 1937 of Hearne, Texas passed away on Friday August 28, 2015. His viewing will be on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and a special wake service will be from 8:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the All Families Mortuary Chapel, 109 North Alamo, Hearne, TX 77859. His funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Independent Baptist Church 101 North El Paso St. Hearne, Texas 77859

Roy Wayne Morehead

Roy Wayne Morehead, 64, of Hearne, Texas went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 21, 2015 after a long battle with illness. Roy was born on February 14, 1951 to Viola Irene and Cam Morehead. He married his wife, Donna on June 20, 1970. Roy loved to be outdoors hunting and fishing. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. If you knew Roy, you know that if he liked you, he was going to tease you. He was proceeded in death by his beautiful wife, Donna Morehead, his parents Viola Irene and Cam Morehead, three brothers: Cam Morehead, Luther “Buck” Morehead and David Morehead and one sister: Viola Morehead.

Damon Lee McGee Sr

Damon Lee McGee, Sr., 49, of Hearne passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015 in Bryan, Texas. Visitation was from 1:00p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2015 at Glenn Mack Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life honoring Damon was set for Saturday, August 8, 2015 at New Elam Baptist Church, 509 Brenken Street in Hearne, Texas. The Rev. Derron Robinson, Pastor officiated. Interment at Hammond Colony Cemetery. Damon Lee McGee, Sr. was a Beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend. Damon Lee McGee was born March 1, 1966 to Erma Lee McGee Polk and Alex McGee, Jr. in Calvert, Texas. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and joined church. He was a 1985 graduate of Hearne High School in Hearne, Texas. Damon was preceded in death by his uncles; Robert Garrett Sr. and Cecil Garrett, Sr., his Aunt; Barbara Ruth Price, Grandmother; Lubirda Price and Grandfather; Alex McGee, Sr.

Gary “Dean” Wootan

Gary “Dean” Wootan was born on April 4, 1963 in Hearne, Texas to Irvin Ezell Wootan Jr. and Wanda Russell. Gary passed from this life on July 22, 2015. Memorial services were held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne, Texas. The Reverend Keith Trotter of Calvert, Texas was the offciant. Gary is survived by his mother Wanda Wootan of Calvert, Texas; Brothers and sister-in-laws; Butch and Kelly Miller and Bart and Tracy Wootan both from Houston, Texas; Sister, Rhonda Lopez of Katy, Texas; and nieces and nephews, Joey Pantalion, Nathan Miller, Savannah Thompson, Grace Miller, Bailee Wootan, Jacob Miller, and Camdyn Wootan. Gary was preceded in death by his father Irvin Ezell Wootan Jr. and his grandparents, Grady and Bonnie Russell Sr. and Ezell and Frances Wootan Sr.

Cynthia Sue Bohn Eickenhorst

Cynthia Sue Bohn Eickenhorst, 61, of Hearne, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Crossroads Nursing and Rehab. Most recently, she was a cashier at Dollar General in Hearne, Texas. Cynthia Sue Bohn Eickenhorst was born February 9, 1954 to R. A. Bohn and Annie Faye Reed. Cynthia grew up in Marlin and later met and married Johnny Ehlers Sr. of Riesel. Together they had five children: Primrose, Charles, Johnny Jr., Walter, and Raymond. Cynthia Eickenhorst was a kind, friendly woman. She loved her children and grandchildren and had a special relationship with each one. Cynthia was giving and always willing to help when needed. She was well-known in Marlin and had many friends that she loved dearly. Cynthia never met a stranger and she made a new friend everywhere she went. Cynthia was baptized in the Pentecostal Church of Robertson County and accepted Jesus into her heart. We were blessed to have her in our lives for the time we did. She is loved and will be greatly missed.
