y The first, to be the first and winning first

Mumford ISD is proud to announce Danielle Porter, currently a Junior and a student at Mumford High School, attained the University Scholastic League’s highest rating of Division I at the State Contest held in Pflugerville, Texas on Saturday, June 3, 2017.

“This is the first in the history of Mumford ISD that a student not only participated in the University Interscholastic League’s Regional Contest held at Consolidated High School on Saturday, February 4, 2017 on a Class I solo, most difficult, and attaining a First Division at that level; but also a first in the school’s history of attaining this honor at the State contest level’ stated Mr. Kelley, band director at Mumford ISD.

“Danielle performed this solo completely from memory whereupon the judge, and I, as well as her mom, just sat back and completely enjoyed her performance. The judge was very complimentary and had no negative remarks or comments, which is extremely rare at this level.

Danielle is not only an outstanding musician but also a joy to have in class. Her attitude and love of music is just infectious and an inspiration not only to myself, but also to all my students. We are all extremely proud of her.”
