Eagles taking flight
The Hearne Eagles are off to a tremendous start to the 2017 district season as their record stands at 3-0 in district play and 5–2 on the season.
This week they must travel to Marlin to take on the Bulldogs who have playoff aspirations of their own. Marlin has been up and down all season but has smoothed out their game as district play has begun.
The Bulldogs have suffered only one loss and that was a 43-29 defeat at the hands of Buffalo. The Bison are also undefeated so this game looms big for both squads.
Marlin needs a win to stay in contention for a playoff berth at the end of the season, while the Eagles need a win to keep the pressure on Buffalo as they chase a possible district championship.
The Bulldogs fate lies in the arm of quarterback Kerry Collins II, the legs of Sir Charleston Lee, Tyrese Mayes, and Alik Brooks and the hands of Brooks and Donovan Blake.
How efficiently the Bulldog offense operates depends on how well they get the above group involved in the game plan. The Bulldogs defense has been solid most of the season with only a few lapses in play occurring. They will need to stay on their toes to contain the Eagles.
