Grants goals for the City of Hearne
The City of Hearne has been actively applying for as many COVID-19 assistance grants as humanly possible as reported in the Tuesday evening council meeting.
City Manager John Naron, working with city staff, was granted approval by the council the authorizing official title for at least the one grant that if awarded would yield roughly $43,000.00 that would be used to offset the overtime pay of the Hearne Police Department.
Another grant that the City is seeking is the CARES Grant for residential utility assistance. This grant would be for roughly $100,000.00 to $150,000.00. If awarded the City could then disburse the funds to citizens in the form of payment for their electric bills.
