One of the most overwhelming obstacles for fire departments of any size is securing funding for gear to protect first responders as they rush into danger to protect our citizens and their homes.
Imagine the challenge for rural organizations who exist solely on the goodwill of their volunteer force and how difficult it can be to replace older gear as it degrades after years of heavy use in extreme environments.
Well, the citizens of Calvert and surrounding communities can rest assured that their team is one step safer with the arrival of new gear thanks to a grant by the Texas A&M Forestry Service.
