Earnest Thomas Jr. 70 of Hearne passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 in Bryan.
Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 at Glenn Mack Funeral Home, Hearne.
A Celebration of Life honoring Earnest Thomas, Jr. was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at Old Elam Missionary Baptist Church in Hearne.
Rev. F.C. Lewis III, Pastor and Eulogist assisted Rev. W.C. Adams.
Interment was at Greater Riverside Cemetery, Hearne, Texas.
Earnest Thomas, Jr. was born September 27, 1946, to Earnest and Florence Thomas Sr., in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was the oldest of eleven children.
He attended Scared Heart School, Lake Charles, Louisiana and George Washington Carver, Houston, Texas.
Later, he enlisted with the Merchant Marines in New Mexico where he studied and received a degree in Culinary Arts.
Earnest was employed by Dresser Ind. and later by Southern and Union Pacific Railroads.
He was a faithful member of the Old Elam Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father; Earnest Thomas Sr., sister; Pamela Thomas, and two brothers; Lawrence and David Thomas of Houston, Texas.
He leaves to mourn: his wife; Dinah Thomas, stepson; Esteen Reid, godson; Za’veon, mother; Florence Thomas, three brothers; Terry (Phyllis) Thomas, Gerard Thomas, and Joel (Debra) Thomas, four sisters; Frances Thomas, Emma Scurry, Bernaditte (Roderick) and Vanessa (Herbert) Delacroix all of Houston, Texas, sister-in-law; Wanda (Charles) Johnson of Amarillo, Texas, two brothers-in-law; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nelson and James and (Doris) Brown all of Hearne, Texas, three special aunts; Leanna (Moses) Hamilton of Oakland, California, Louella Guillory of San Jose, California, and Helen Jones of Houston, Texas; one great aunt; Georgeanna Mitchell of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
