Early voting underway in heated City election
In what has become a very heated City election voters are turning out early to get their vote cast for three open position on the Hearne City Council. For the past 12 months, residents that have attended council meetings have witnessed dysfunction and the what has commonly been referred to as a circus.
Often argumentative is council person Shirley Harris who is now facing a former council person in LaShaunda White at the polls. Harris has spent the better part of her term acting disrespectful to city employees and those hired to represent taxpayers including inciting the former City Attorney Sarah Griffin to address Harris in a hand delivered letter, “The City Attorney office will support you in your position as Councilmember, but not at the expense of the city as a whole. We will serve each councilmember equally, no matter how politically opposed each of the members are to one another, and will not modify our legal advice to support one or more councilmembers over the others.”
