William Allen “Bill” Koehler
William Allen “Bill” Koehler, 73, of Calvert passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at Hospice Brazos Valley inpatient facility. Bill was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 4, 1943 to Allen William Koehler and Janet Louise Lincoln Koehler. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grove City, Ohio. Bill graduated from Grove City High School in 1962 and then attended Ohio State. Bill married the love of his life, Carolyn Puckett, on July 26, 1968 and they would have celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on July 26, 2018. Bill was a Security Guard Supervisor at Sanderson Farm feed mill near Franklin, Texas. Bill was a retired Calvert Police Officer. He formerly attended TEEX Law Enforcement Training Academy. Bill was a horse trainer and jockey when he was younger. Bill loved to fish and some people called him “Wild Bill”. He adored his grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Allen William Koehler and mother, Janet Louise Lincoln Koehler; mother in law, Jewel Thomas and father in law, Marvin Thomas; sisters, Judy Garverick and infant sister Deanne Koehler. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; his only child, Kelly Ann and husband, Gary Miller; brother, Robert “Bob” Koehler of Grove City, Ohio; sister in law, Beverly Haywood and Melvin (deceased); grandchildren, Kristin, Eric, and Ethan William. Visitation was held Monday, July 17, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. till time of service at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Calvert. Burial followed in Norwood Cemetery in Hearne. Officiant was Chris Lange. Pallbearers were, Craig Leath, Allen Wiese, Kyle Gregory, David Hunter, Eric Miller, and Gary Miller. Honorary pallbearers are the City of Calvert Police Department, Robertson County Sheriff’s Department, Luke Rizzo, Joe Soloman, Travis Cochran, Allen Johnson, Joe Jackson, Wayne Barker, Robert Closs, and Barry Closs. Arrangements were entrusted to Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home.
