The Hearne Cheerleaders was expressing their thoughts on how the Eagles should treat the Tigers during the game.

Eagles soar over Tinity and look to land on Snook

Hearne Eagles vs. Snook Blue Jays on Friday, September 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Allen Academy

The Hearne Eagles have found their wings in the 2017 football season and the program has taken off. The Eagles have been impressive in both early season games running off a win against the Trinity Tigers and falling just short 34-29 to the 6th ranked Centerville Tigers in the opener for both teams, now the Eagles face off against another opponent they defeated last season, in the Snook Blue Jays. Snook finished 6-6 last season, winning one playoff game before bowing out in the Area round. They return a strong core to lead the charge this season. The Blue Jays strength could be in the trenches, where OL/ DL Devonze Franklin and LB Damon Allen lead the team. Allen is also the Blue Jays starting HB and will shoulder a lot of the offensive load for the team. Quarterback Michael Ramirez will look to keep a balance between the Blue Jays ground attack and their passing game. Together, he and Allen had over 1000 yards rushing last season and are expected to lead the charge in 2017. Wide receivers, Damonta Allen, Javaryon Bailey, Cedrion Golden, and Qwanterrius Young could help the passing attack improve. Hearne ran and passed their way to a win a year ago and have their sights set on doing the same this coming Friday night. It will require a solid effort from QB Josiah Green and his receivers, Edraeshion Tindle, Cedrion Golden and Keaundre Foley. Strong games by that trio will free up running lanes for Javen Jefferson, Damien Dunn, and Alex Davis. Thus far this season the young offensive line has performed well under fire and their play has fueled the teams offensive success.

What better way to get over a heartbreaking loss a week ago to State ranked Centerville than to have a dramatic come from behind win the next week. Coach Sargent and the Hearne Eagles snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with a fantastic 22-21-comeback win over the Trinity Tigers. The Eagles seemed to be suffering from a hangover from last week game on offense but they made enough plays to secure the win. Although they only produced 113 yards of offense they made the most out of it, scoring 3 touchdowns to pull out the win. Running back Javon Jefferson led the rushing attack with 40 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown. Quarterback Josiah Green completed just four passes but one of those went to receiver Javaryon Bailey for a touchdown. However, it was the Eagles defense that kept them in the game while the offense got its act together. The Eagles defensive back Cedrion Golden led the defense with a fumble recovery and an interception. He also returned two kickoffs for 68 yards giving the Eagles offense field position. Jefferson recovered a fumble for the Eagles other touchdown and Alijah Miles also had a fumble recovery to end a Trinity drive. Hard hits by tackle Victor Killebrew and safety KeAndre Foley caused two of the fumbles by the Tiger offense. It was a true team effort on defense as Quan Moten, Dylan Woods, Tudarrius Miles, Jeremiha Foley, Micah Smith, and Damien Dunn all helped put the Eagles stamp on the big win.

Congratulations Eagles, on the great win and good luck this week against the Snook Blue Jays in Bryan at Allen Academy.
