Dennis Richmond Cooper
Dennis Richmond Cooper, 85 of Rockdale, formerly of Hearne, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Elliott Baptist Church in Hearne, Texas with Bro. Dale Wells Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Dennis was born September 2, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Jacob and Margaret (Hartman) Cooper. He served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean Conflict. Dennis married Jeannette Martine on June 5, 1955 in Hearne, Texas. He worked as a Health and Safety Inspector for Texas A&M University and continued to work well past retirement age as an usher at the Texas Aggie football games for over 20 years. Dennis enjoyed working in the yard, tending to flowerbeds, picking up sticks, and raking leaves, and was an avid Texas Aggie and Dallas Cowboys fan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Margaret Cooper. Dennis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeannette Cooper of Rockdale, Texas; sons, James Cooper and Vickie Cooper of Bryan, Texas, Donald Cooper and fiancé Amy Riley of Franklin, Texas, and Dennis Cooper and wife, Dina of Bryan, Texas; daughters, Denise Sifuentes and husband, Ralph of Rockdale, Texas and Janet Cooper of Rockdale, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and brother, Henry Cooper of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Pallbearers will be Caleb Hughes, Trey Hughes, Jerod Sifuentes, James Minor, Esteban Alvarado, Daniel Ditto, Blake Tacker and Eric Gimon. Honorary pallbearers will be David Hoang, John Wilson and Tyler Hutton.
