Lorenzo Barnard Whitfield

Lorenzo Barnard Whitfield, 21, of Hearne passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018. A very bright light in for his family and friends, Lorenzo will remain in their hearts forever. He is gone but will never be forgotten. He never met a stranger and had a heart of gold. He was always willing to help anyone in need, even if it meant giving his last dime. Family asks that everyone help keep his memory alive by sharing all the good times spent with him. Visitation and Rosary were held Tuesday, February 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home Chapel. Officiant for the Rosary was Rev. Ramon Frayna of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Funeral service was held Wednesday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Old Elam Baptist Church. Officiant was Pastor Earnest Taylor, Sr., Eulogist was Pastor Willie Whitfield. Burial followed the funeral service at St. Jose Cemetery. Pallbearers were Traion Smith, Logan Boyett, Johnny Alexander, Frazier Lewis, Julio Rodriguez, Mario Alvarado, and Andrew Leija. Honorary Pallbearers were Lionel Whitfield, Sr., Paul Anthony Finley, Lamar Locklin, Jaylon Bryant, Lionel Whitfield, Jr., Kendall Oges, O’Neil Spells, Lafayette Morrison, IV, and Kelan Locklin. Lorenzo will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends including his mother’s side of the family: Mother and step dad, Danyell Leija and Julio Rodriguez; prior step dad, Dexter Washington; sisters, Alexis Leija and Marian Rodriguez; brothers, Aiden Kiel and Jakob Rodriguez; grandfather and step grandmother, Manuel Leija and Shirley Leija; aunts, Michelle Leija and Angel Leija; Uncles, Mario Alvarado, Joe Rodriguez, Andrew Leija; nephew, Aubrie Walton; cousins, Brianna Hermosillo, Yvette Hermosillo, Madelynn Alvarado, Dylon Alvarado; special recognition to his best friend/cousin, Jose Hermosillo; his father’s side of the family: Father and step mother, Lionel Whitfield, Sr. and Loretta Whitfield; special mother figure, Sandi Schlottman; brothers, Lionel Whitfield, Jr., Sebastian Whitfield, Kelan Locklin, Lamar Locklin; sisters, Annisha Williams, A’Shlyn Whitfield, Lauryn Locklin, Jena Locklin; grandparents, Linda and Aaron Miller, Elbert and Linda Sanders. Arrangements were entrusted to Heartfield- Ritter Funeral Home.
