Catherine Marie Rowan
Cathy went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 71 years of age. She was resting peacefully in her home in Hearne, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She fought a great battle with pancreatic cancer that spanned over a decade. To the doctors and to everyone that knew her, she was a miracle, a friend and a giver of smiles. Cathy was born July 24, 1947 in Hearne, Texas, the daughter of Lee Washington Vaughn and Catherine “Jewell” Vaughn. Raised in Hearne, she graduated Hearne High School in 1965. She moved to Houston, Texas, soon after graduation and began a career as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She moved back to Hearne and married the love of her life, Ronnie Rowan in 1967. She was especially proud of her family and valued each moment with her siblings, children, grandchildren and her one great grandchild. Her time was spent focusing on her great love of gardening, spending time with family, volunteering and helping others. She also enjoyed feeding the deer, ducks, dogs, cats, birds and the menagerie of other animals that were always around her home. Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, Lee Washington Vaughn and Catherine “Jewell” Vaughn; and sister Patricia Sapp. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ronnie Gene Rowan; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Deborah Rowan of The Colony, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Brian Sanders of Bryan, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie Jr and Laura Beth Rowan of Oakwood, Texas; grandchildren, Ty Navarrete, Trey Rowan, Nicholas Rowan, Sarah Rowan, Hannah Rowan, Tee Crocker, Emily Rowan, Catelyn Crocker, Jewel Rowan and Peighten Rowan; great-grandchild, Rozie Rowan; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Patsy Vaughn of Hearne; brother and sister-in-law Ronnie and Diana Vaughn; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
