Curtis roy Hover
Curtis Roy Hover of Hearne, Texas died April 15, 2019.
He was a man from humble beginnings who went on to lead a remarkable life. Born on a small family farm in Barron WI, the youngest of three brothers, Curtis went on to travel the world, stay married to the same woman for 64 years and raise three children.
He left the milking of cows and the clearing of stones from new plowed fields to join the Air Force in the late ‘40’s and served with distinction for 20 years.
He spent time in Japan, Thailand, the Azores and multiple bases in the states. Faye joined him during most of the assignments and in their first nine years together they were blessed with Dawn, Randy and Kelly.
After the Air Force Curtis moved the family to Arizona where he built a home and sold real estate however he was not happy enough there and decided to move the family to Faye’s home town of Hearne.
He had several businesses over the years but most remember him for his small engine repair shop.
Always ready with a quip, a comment or a smile Curtis charmed everyone he met and made many lifelong friends. Active in the Masonic Order, the American Legion, Lions Club and VFW, his importance to the community grew. Often sought out for advice and respected by everyone he dealt with, Curtis was a valuable asset to Hearne and Robertson County. He could catch you off guard with his witty repartee and his underlying intellect. He experienced most everything life can offer. While we grieve his loss, we celebrate his life.
He is presided in death by his parents, Carl and Ruth Hover; his loving wife, Faye Mandrell Hover; and his son, Randy Hover.
