Dorothy Juanita Hickman Estes
Dorothy Juanita Hickman Estes, 89 of Hearne passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Crossroads Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hearne with her family by her side. Juanita was born in Darco, Texas on December 23, 1927 to George C. Hickman and Bernice Cogburn Hickman, to this union seven children were born, Juanita being the eldest. She spent her childhood growing up in Marshall, Texas. On November 6, 1947 she married the love of her life in Fort Worth, Texas. Juanita and Hobert had two sons James Allen and Michael Wayne Estes. In 1954 the Estes’ moved to Hearne, Texas to raise their family. Juanita was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hearne, Texas. She was also a member of the Hearne P.T.A. and she enjoyed being a housewife to her husband and mother to her two sons. Some of her hobbies were dancing, camping with her family, playing canasta with her friends, traveling with her mother and her sisters and enjoyed her grand, great grand, and great great grand children. Juanitta is preceded in death by her parents; George C. Hickman and Bernice (Cogburn) Hickman, a brother; Bobby Hickman and her husband; Hobert A. Estes, sisters and brother-in- laws; Gloria (Hickman) Cook (Cookie Cook) and Marie (Hickman) Landers (Bob Landers). She leaves behind to cherish her in their memories her sons; James A. Estes (Linda Townley Estes) and Michael W. Estes (Therese Salvaggio Estes), seven grand children; James A. Estes Jr., Jana Estes Rose (Jason Rose), Megan Estes Collins (James Collins), Kaleigh Estes (Devan Taylor), Corbin Estes (Rylie McDonald Estes), Tony Estes, Dorothy Estes (Alexis Giordonello), ten great grand children; Brittani Estes Nelson (Brian Nelson), Alyssa Wilson, Nia Wilson, Jason Rose Jr., Jacee Rose, Jessica Collins, Jennifer Collins, Lilly Smith Lopez, Bryan (BJ) Lopez Jr., Elizabeth Wymola, four great great grand children; Braylon Nelson, Brendyn Nelson, Joe Riley Jr., and Ryder Rose, sisters and brotherin- laws; Patti Hickman Keelin (Glenn Keelin) and Carolyn Hickman Clark (Jessie Eugene Clark), brother and sister-in-law; Troy Hickman (Shirley Hughes Hickman). Visitation was held at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne, Texas from 12:noon until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service was held immediately after visitation. Graveside service followed at Norwood Cemetery in Hearne, Texas. Family gathering took place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parrish Hall. Jessie Eugene Clark officiated. Pallbearers were: Jason Rose, Jason Rose Jr., Corbin Estes, Tony Estes, Devan Taylor, and James Collins. Honorary pallbearers were: James A. Estes Jr., Nick Cook, Douglas Mandrell, and Larry Corn. All arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home, Hearne, Texas.
