George Bernard Saenz
George Bernard Saenz was born on December 25, 1948 in Mercedes, Texas to Maria Elena and Reynaldo Saenz. George passed away on April 29, 2019.
George joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 19. He proudly served in the military for four years completing a one year term in Vietnam. George completed his military service at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas where he met his wife, Esperanza (Hope) Solis.
They were married in Austin at St. Austin Catholic Church on December 11, 1971. George and Hope later moved to Hearne, Texas to raise a family. They had two sons, Carlos Bernardo and George Bernard II.
George worked at the U.S. Postal Service for 24 years. He served on the U.S. Postal Service Union Board and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the VFW Post # 10358 in Hearne, Texas.
George is proceeded by both his parents, Maria Elena and Reynaldo and his brother, Richard.
George is survived by his wife of 47 years, Esperanza, both sons, Carlos Bernardo and wife, Amber and George Bernard II; Four grandchildren, Taylor, Austin, Shelby and Nathan; Sister, Stella Pazzaglia and husband, Randy of Bryan, Texas; and Brothers, Dan Saenz and wife, Gloria of LaFeria, Texas and Lee Saenz and wife, Kimberly of Washington.
Visitation was held at Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Rosary followed at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., burial service to follow.
All arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home.
