George Lang

A memorial celebrating the life of George Lang of Blackjack will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 408 Cedar, Hearne. The Rev. Nandra Perry will officiate. A potluck lunch will follow in the church’s parish hall. Lang was born on August 24, 1961 in Northridge, Calif. and baptized that year at St. Martin’s In-the-Field, Reseda, Calif. He was confirmed at All Saints Catholic Church in Richardson, Texas in 1981. He earned a bachelor’s of communications from the University of North Texas in Denton and later earned certificates in medical sonography and echocardiography. Lang lived a life of service to others both in his job as an ultrasound technologist in Bryan and as a member of the Blackjack Volunteer Fire Department. He was very active in the volunteer fire department’s annual fish fry and was also active at St. Philip’s where he served as a lay Eucharistic minister and a volunteer at St. Philip’s Vacation Bible School. He loved to read and work out at the gym. He will be remembered for his bright smile, his earnest study of theology and comparative religions, and his love of his friends, family and furry critters.
