MARY JACQUELYN WILSON

MARY JACQUELYN WILSON

Mary Jacquelyn Wilson was born on August 28, 1926, to her parents, Luther and Mary Jane Bledsoe Batson in Leon County, Texas. She entered into her Heavenly home on Monday, October 5, 2020, surrounded by her loving children.

Mary was a graduate of Madison High School and attended Baylor University. She married her husband, James Leon Wilson on September 15, 1944, in Houston, Texas. To this union, three children were born.

Mary made her home in Hearne, Texas for sixty-five years before moving to the Isle at Watercrest in Bryan, Texas, where she’s lived the past six years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hearne.

She had a deep and abiding love for two things: God and family. She spent every moment of her 94 years of life reflecting this. Mary always prayed fervently and fiercely for her family, and her greatest hope was that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would trust in the Lord and remain faithful to Him always.

She selflessly served her family, often spending hours or even days preparing and cooking food for their large gatherings. Mary made sure there was always a seat at the table for you, even if it meant the table was a really, really long one.

Spending time with her family was a priority, and some of Mary and Leon’s fondest memories were of family vacations spent together in South Padre. Mary’s servant heart was also easily seen by her community, as she was an active, long-time member of her church.

She faithfully and joyfully taught children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for over 40 years, and the impact that she had on generations of children is immeasurable.

Mary lived a life fully devoted to the Lord and was an example of what it means to be a Godly woman. She was a faithful servant all her days, and only heaven knows what an eternal impact her many years of praying had on her family and friends.

She leaves a legacy of God’s amazing love and grace. Although she will be missed dearly, we can rejoice in knowing that she has entered the kingdom of heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters, and her husband of almost seventy years.

Mary is survived by her children and spouses: Joe and Leslie Wilson of Franklin, John and Shelly Wilson of Fairfield and Jane Wilson Anderson and Larry Anderson of Kingwood,

her grandchildren: Jeff Wilson and wife Jamie, Jennifer Martinka and husband Chad, Joseph Wilson, and wife Mycah, Eric Wilson and wife Kristin, John Mark Wilson and wife Amanda, Caleb Wilson and wife Chrissy, Daniel Wilson, Brett Wilson, Benjamin Wilson, Chad Anderson, and wife Jill and Aron Anderson and wife Rendy and 17 great grandchildren.

Services was held on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at 2:00 p.m.. at the First Baptist Church, in Hearne, Texas. Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Brother James Hooper officiated.

Burial followed at the Madisonville Cemetery in Madisonville, Texas.
