NET W . MILLER
Net W. Miller was born March 28, 1938 and his Heavenly Birthday was on May 24, 2019.
Net lived his dream with a simple life that was full of joy and love. His favorite moments were sitting with the love of his life, Connie, watching the sunrise on the back porch with a hot cup of coffee, a smile on his face, and a cat on his lap. Later, this strong, gentle giant turned that lap into a soft place for his precious, perfect grandchildren to land.
After graduating from Brookesmith High School where he played 6 man football (both ways), Net proudly served in the United States Army. Net eventually settled in Hearne and became a certified welder at Hearne GATX where he was recognized for his work ethics, his reliability, his willingness to assist or teach others and was known as a quiet, strong and thoughtful
He received the 1994 GATX Employee of the Year Award. He retired in 1999 and became a member of the GATX Retirees Club. Net was also a member of the Hearne Church of Christ. In 2018 he was awarded with the “Brookesmith High School Coming Home King”.
Net was a proud American and Native Texan, a natural man whose favorite place was with Nature and the Peace it offered. Net loved the life and challenge of making and developing a patch of land into a producing ranch properly named N&C Miller Ranch with registered Limousine cattle.
One of his favorite sayings was “A new calf and a good rain are always welcome at this ranch.” Of all the proud moments in Net’s life, one of his very proudest was watching his daughter, Gina, graduate from Texas A&M University.
He served the Lord by generously giving to others and by sharing his skills of ‘fixin’ or replacing things. He provided neighbors and loved ones with his garden produce that grew from a small plot to almost an acre. He was always available to help family and friends. His
Mother once said, “Net has been helping people since he was 3 years old.”
The Lord said to Net as he entered Heaven, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
