Oran Lacy (Bubba) Harris, Jr. went to be with his Lord on October 3, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 6, 1934 in Anderson County, Texas. His family moved to Hearne, Texas in 1940. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle and a respected friend whose positive attitude saw only the good in every situation. Bubba is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Martha Anne; their sons and their families, Glenn and Kathy Harris and daughters Kirby and Morgan, Steve and Karin Harris and daughter Carly, Neal Harris, daughter Heather Francis, sons Canton and Cade Harris. He is survived by a sister, Ila Jean Nicklaus and brother, Marvin Harris. He has numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oran L. and Cora P. Harris; sister, Jewel Porter; and grandsons Chad and Mathew Harris. Bubba had many loves in life that included his family, friends and his church. He also loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with family and friends. These interests lead to two of his favorite activities of fish fries and making venison sausage with his family and friends. He enjoyed being with people of all ages. This shows in the way he spent his life. He worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for almost 40 years. Having three sons he spent many years working and coaching in Hearne Little League. He coached several championship teams. He worked with the Robertson County Fair Association and served as its president. He was a member of the Hearne Lions Club. He has been a member of First Baptist Church of Hearne since 1944. His closest friends were the members of the men’s Sunday School Class. He served his church in many ways over the years. Visitation was held at the Memorial Funeral Home, 802 S. Market Street, Hearne, Texas on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church, Hearne, Texas on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with burial following at Norwood Cemetery, Hearne, Texas.
