Finishing Strong in Clavert
The one thing first year head coach JaMarcus Ashley has insisted upon from the day he took over the Calvert Athletic Program was that he wanted the Trojans to always finish strong.
He felt the team’s lack of energy and lethargic play late in games this season had a lot to do with the team not being in the best shape. He is instituting a strong weight program for the off season in hopes of building the teams strength and stamina for the upcoming school year.
Although pleased with this years results in his first go around he felt there were areas that both he and the team could improve upon that would make the program stronger. That is something he would like to see across the board regardless of the sport.
He is also looking at having the team play 7 on 7 and 6 on 6 leagues this summer to improve continuity and off season workout habits. He has placed them in a couple of tournament formats that will allow the group to get maximum playing experience in during the days leading up to next season. One of the challenges he faces for the new season will be finding a quarterback or spread back. He has several kids he plans to look at during the summer before making a final decision in the Fall. The Trojans will also be looking to hire a new head basketball coach after the departure of Coach Ross, who moves on after one season.
