Lady Trojans skin the Tigers
Coach Tiffany Williams and the Calvert Lady Trojans have been going through growing pains this season in basketball as she attempts to rebuild what once was a very strong program.
There have been trying moments that have tested her new found patience but through it all she and her young Lady Trojans have managed to persevere. She has relied on senior Alexis Thompson for leadership and floor management and she has responded well.
She is the team’s leading scorer and leads the team in assists as well. Help has come from the improved play of sophomore forward D’Mya Porter, playing her first season of organized ball.
She began as a diamond in the rough but has slowly smoothed some of the rough edges off her game and become a good second scorer for the team. She has also been big on the boards rebounding to help the team’s defense. Junior Lakeia Gilmore, sophomore Jakole Lyles, and freshman Artasia Lee have provided a boost to the starting lineup and have all made major contributions this season.
