Making a big step
The Hearne Eagles football team took a big step forward this season. Not only did they win the district for the first time in a years but they have completely erased the memory of that 0-19 stretch the program endured.
This group of Eagles have been flying high all season long as they soared to a 9-2 record. Coach Sargent and his staff have the Eagles playing at a championship level.
They will need that type of focus this week as they face off against 2015 State Champion Waskom in the Area Round. Waskom is just two years removed from that title but these are not the same Wildcats that defeated Franklin in the title game. They are 7-4 this season and fresh off a 42-18 thumping of Hemphill. With quarterback Ty Carter at the helm along with running back T. K. Hamilton the Wildcats are a dangerous team.
