Trojans tame those Bulldogs
It is a familiar position for the Calvert Trojans for those of you familiar with the program. They are in first place after the first two games of district play and have looked virtually unbeatable in their first two outings.
The Trojans are in a small, weak district that includes four other teams Bartlett, Oglesby, Buckholts, and Richards. None of the four should threaten the Trojans for the title or offer them a competitive game.
Therefore, it is imperative that with the abbreviated district schedule that the Trojans make hay of their opportunities to perform. They are ranked 25th in State despite having only 3 losses and none of the losses were to a Class 1A team. With a 12-3 record the Trojans are rolling through the district without much competition. The strength of the team is its guards and they have 5 good ones.
Senior Matt Steamer, James Green and Derrick Stewart and juniors Duke Hurst and Corderius Gilmore, all have made major contributions to the teams winning play this season.
Coach Ross has also received some steady play from post Darius Brooks, and TreQuenton Green. The rest of the squad has received enough playing time to become important reserves if needed to fill roles, Billy Thompson Jr., Daveon Flentroy, and Deonte Schells provide the team with depth and some talent.
