Nicholas Danny Owens, 44, of Franklin, Texas, passed away on October 4, 2025, in Houston, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 24, 1980, in Hearne, Texas to parents, Dannie Lee and Mary Nell (Burns) Owens, Nicholas lived a life full of laughter, hard work, and deep devotion to those he loved. Nicholas was one of a kind, strong, kindhearted, and always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. He took great pride in his work in the oilfield, where his dedication and drive earned him not only respect but lifelong friendships. When he wasn’t working, you could almost always find him in the woods hunting, cooking something up, or spending time with family and friends. The outdoors was his peace, and being surrounded by the people he loved was his greatest joy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sara Tatum Owens; his grandparents, Jim Owens and Alice Lou Burns; and his sister, Stacey McFarland. Nicholas is survived by his fiancée, Shauna Durdin; his children, Jim Owens, Natalie Owens, Devin Barnes, Faith Barnes, Shelby Thornton, and “his boy,” Jacob Nash Burns; his parents, Danny and Mary Owens of Franklin, Texas; his brother, Daniel Carter, and wife, Jillian Carter; nephews, Weston and Truitt Carter, and niece Kymber Carter. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts. Nicholas had a heart of gold, a contagious laugh, and a way of making everyone feel at home. He never met a stranger, and he always made sure those around him knew they were loved. Though his time here was far too short, his impact and the memories he leaves behind will last forever. A graveside service to celebrate Nick’s life will be held 10 A.M., Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Taylor Cemetery near Trinity, Texas. A time of visitation and fellowship will take place from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M., Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
