Sam Golden of Hearne was born in May of 1945. He attended Blackshear High School in Hearne. Sam then went to work for the united States Postal Service as a letter carrier.
The good news is the Hearne Eagles are back on top and everybody’s radar as a state contender. The bad news is now the Hearne Eagles are a target. In the early part of the season, with two games canceled, opponents weren’t taken Hearne seriously and they have all paid for that mistake.

It seems that the popular High School Sports reporters are finally catching on to our little secret. The undefeated Hearne Eagles opened district play against the Rosebud-Lott Cougars and routed the normally strong team 41-0.
For the past two weeks, the Hearne Eagles have stayed off the field due to game cancelation. COVID-19 has had its impact felt throughout Texas High School Football season and one can only hope that once non-district play ends and the real season begins, things get back to normal.
This Saturday, September 12, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Scrappers will be at the Calvert Farmer’s Market. These boys are excited and have started baking for this fundraiser. They will have all kinds of baked goods and fall flavored treats.
